Take Back the Medium

I’m sick today so please excuse me if I ramble on more than usual, I’m a bit delirious…

I found this image this morning, and it got me thinking about how much I love the way advertising and design works in public spaces.

Seeing someone use advertising to get their own private story out there is exciting!

Its fascinating how people interact with the world around them – the things we see and touch and read and have to step over on a daily basis go a long way towards shaping our collective conciousness. Advertising and design is storytelling and if people like the story, they connect with it, if they don’t they might ignore it, and sometimes in a best-case scenario, they might dialogue with it.

Micah over at LJ Urban posted an image of an outdoor sign from a campaign we worked on for them – someone felt so strongly about what we were saying that they spoke out by tagging and vandalizing the sign, and suddenly LJ Urban’s blog moved from the æther and onto a real, concrete object. I love it.

I’m going to go pass out on the sofa now.
