Our Toaster is the Best Toaster

This morning I made myself a bagel. I don’t usually eat anything for breakfast but I had these bagels and some cream cheese floating around so I figured I’d eat one. It was delicious, and toasted just right.

I found out it was designed by a fancy-pants French guy called Raymond Loewy. He’s kind of a father figure of modern industrial design, having worked on everything from corporate logos to locomotives to restuarants.

I bought it quite a long time ago, at a thrift store, for like 5 bucks or something.

The toaster I used to make it is really something special – I bought it quite a long time ago, at a thrift store, for like 5 bucks or something. It’s a Sunbeam, Model T-9. Built in the 1930’s. And it still works flawlessly.

I’m not sure why, but i decided to look it up on the ‘net, while enjoying my tasty bagel. I found out it sells from various vintage websites from 200 dollars on up, depending on condition. I found out it is in the permanent design collection of some prominent museums and galleries.

Ray seems pretty cool for a frog, and he sure knew how to make a mean bagel.
