I’ve been a little stumped working on the brand identity for a recent client of ours; the logo/signature mark and palette stuff is done but I’ve been having problems moving on from there. So I fired up my Miata, put the top down, and dragged our new designer Brennan with me on a short field trip to the windmill farm down by Rio Vista in the delta. Seeing the structural elements of the windmills, their relationship to the landscape around them, and how they change visual mood when positioned in clusters gave us some good inspiration to move the brand forward. Yay!

I really like the contrast between the two earth tones in this shot.
There were a number of headless windmills that were being assembled; they gave the landscape a really eerie feel.
It was unfortunate that the sky was so hazy so I wasn’t really thrilled with how most of the photos I shot came out, but it was still an interesting way to spend a Friday!
